M102 - The Spindle Galaxy

M102 also know as NGC 5907 or the Spindle Galaxy is a edge on lenticular galaxy.  It was discovered by French Astronomer Pierre Mechain in 1781.  M102 is located in the constellation Draco at 15h 06m 30s RA, +55o 46m 0s DEC.  It is 44 Million Light Years from Earth, and has a visual magnitude of 10.7. The best time to observe M102 is in the Spring although it is visible most of the year for the northern lattitudes.
