M63 - The Sunflower Galaxy

M63 or NGC 5055 is know as the Sunflower Galaxy, a spiral galaxy with loosely wound arms. It was discovered by French Astronomer Pierre Mechain in  1779.   M64 is located in the constellation Canes Venatici at 12h 15m 49.3s RA, +42o 01m 45.7s DEC.  It is 29.3 Million Light Years from Earth, and has a visual magnitude of 9.3. The best time to observe M63 is in the late Spring.
